Trustee Savings Bank,
Ingram Street,
1894 - 1900,
J.J. Burnet.

Designed by J.J. Burnet between the dates of 1894 and 1900, the TSB building occupies the corner of Ingram Street and Glassford Street.

In 1894 plans were passed to erect a domed banking hall fronting Ingram Street and to alter and extend the existing bank building.

Built as an extension to his father's original Italianate style building, the younger Burnet went on to add a further colonnaded top floor to the main building and to attach the domed banking hall.

Externally, the newer hall is small in comparison to its neighbours.

St Mungo, Glasgow's patron saint, stands above the main entrance under a triangular pediment supported by twisted columns. The modelling is by George Frampton while the figures were carved by William Shireffs of Glasgow.

The interior of the banking hall is decorated in a Roman Baroque style.

The ornate roof dome adds height to the hall while allowing a measure of top lighting and ornament.

The feature shown here is a broken segmental pediment containing a cartouche with coat of arms."
