Designed between 1931-33
by Jack Coia of Gillespie, Kidd and Coia, the building is concrete framed with
walls of red Accrington brick.
Internally the plan form is of a square Byzantine style with short brick piers
at the corners forming the main body of the nave into a cross.
Looking towards the west, a choir gallery is situated over the narthex (a covered
porch at the main entrance to the church).
Towards the east is a shallow
three sided apse with a classical baldacchino (tent like roof) above.
A view towards the Lady Chapel in the northeast. The carved stone tablets are
by Archibald Dawson.
