Scottish Legal Assurance
Society,
81-107 Bothwell Street,
1927-1931,
Wright and Wylie.
The Scottish Legal Assurance Society building was built by E.G.Wylie of Wright and Wylie between 1927 and 1931.
The building is in the American Classical style and is the largest of its type in Glasgow.
The bronze shopfronts are by Charles Henshaw, the bronze entrance doors by the Birmingham Guild and, on the facade, are reliefs of Industry, Prudence, Thrift and Courage by Archibald Dawson.
The boardroom is small but distinguished by a polished woodpanelled decor and furnishings by Wylie and Lochead. The semi circular seating around the chairman's table is unusual.
Above the table a coat of arms in carved wood reading "Prudence and Thrift"
