The Royal Faculty of Procurators' Hall,
12 Nelson Mandela Place
1856.
Charles Wilson.

This view of the exterior, from the south east across Nelson Mandela Square, shows a ground floor of rusticated stone and above, the 'piano nobile', modelled by the architect from Venetian Renaissance examples.

This is a view of the main entrance to the hall from the east, the arched entranceway set between coupled pilasters.

Inside, the building is notable for the library hall, an Italianate 'palazzo' interior with marbled columns, richly polished mahogany and elaborate plasterwork.

The main reading room has vaulted side aisles defined by square Scagliola piers. At each end of the room is a fine Venetian window. To the side, vaulted aisle bays opening off the main room.

Designed by James Steel and executed by Mr Shanks, the busts, on pedestals, are those of past law lords and lawyers."
