Hutchesons' Hall,
158 Ingram Street,
1802-05,
David Hamilton.

Hutchesons' Hall at 158 Ingram Street was designed by David Hamilton and built by Kenneth Mathieson between 1802 and 1805.

George and Thomas Hutcheson founded the original hospital in the 17thC.

The current building, viewed here from across Ingram Street, was adapted in 1876 by John Baird II and is now fully restored by the National Trust for Scotland.

The Hall is richly panelled with doors and windows surmounted by pediments carried on console brackets. Above the rich cornice a compartmented ceiling. On the north wall are pedimented doorways flanking the fireplace with an entablature mantlepiece carried on Ionic columns.

This is a stained glass window showing view of the original 17thC hospital which stood on the Trongate. Founded in 1639 it was demolished when the hospital moved to its present location at the beginning of the 19thC."
