Govan Old Parish Church,
866 Govan Road,
1883-1888,
Robert Rowand Anderson.

Govan Old Parish Church is the last of many churches to have occupied this site. Built between 1883 and 1888 by Robert Rowand Anderson, the church stands in the centre of an ancient graveyard.

Externally, the church, built from grey rubble, is a contrast to the lavish interior and lacks the tower which was planned but never built

The Nave is tall and broad with relatively narrow arcaded aisles to either side.

Above the aisles are, on one side, the organ by Brindley and Foster, and on the other the choir gallery.

Above the Nave, a broad roof carried on arched timber braces.

At the east end is the Chancel, terminating in a blind arcade.

A fine wrought iron screen divides the aisle, behind which a top lit passage leads to the stairs.

Much of the stained glass was commissioned soon after the church was completed, this figure of Noah, from the transept lancet, is by C.E.Kemp."
