The way the stones are cut and joined together shows how skilled the stone
mason was who prepared these stones.
Here is a drawing of a section from part of that image:

Print this page and use a piece of thread to find out which is the shortest
route from A to B keeping to the lines. Draw over this route with red pencil
or pen.
How many different routes can you find from C to D
a) that turn less than four corners and
b) that do not go through A or B.
Draw what you think are the shortest routes from A to B, A to C and A to D
without going along any of the sides of stone X.
