Activity 2: Shape Patterns
Patterns of various kinds are found in both the exterior and the interior of the House. There are patterns on the building outside and there are also patterns in the shapes and decorations of the interior.
We have already looked in Activity 1 at some shape patterns which are symmetrical.
Symmetry is used widely in the creating of patterns e.g.
In this one we have used two axes of symmetry to complete the pattern.

Look at the pictures of the interior of the parlour. You will see that the
ceiling has a large sunburst pattern in the middle.

Draw this in your book.
Try to be accurate with your compasses and ruler so that your pattern looks
as close as possible to the original.
