Info
about Building Connections
Building Connections is a website with a difference. It is a resource
for schools which aims to help teachers and pupils by providing
a stimulating and extensive range of educational materials, ideas
and case studies that can enrich learning and teaching across
the entire curriculum. For teachers, it offers the opportunity
to enhance the planning of programmes of study with resources
that connect to the Scottish curriculum guidelines. For pupils
of all ages, it provides a rich source of information and activities
for individual study, class and group work as well as many ideas
for project based work. But it’s important to remember that
these electronic resources are no substitute for the experience
of real buildings.
The
Building Connections website also connects to www.ScottishArchitecture.com
which gives detailed information on many aspects of architecture,
planning and related disciplines including career paths.
Building
Connections has been developed by The Lighthouse for the National
Grid for Learning. Advice was provided by a range of project partners
in the field of education including Learning and Teaching Scotland
as well as teachers in primary and secondary schools. The development
of the Building Connections website was funded by the Scottish
Executive. Building Connections and www.ScottishArchitecture.com
are both partnership initiatives with The Lighthouse taking forward
the aims and objectives of the Executive's policy on architecture.
